The method of forecasting an emergency – fire occurrence process – on the repairing vessel using regression analysis is presented in the article. For this purpose the types of statistics that are used in the regression models are described. In the article analyses the causes of random deviations from the regression equation. The least squares method is considered for finding the unknown parameters of the regression equation. To evaluate the quality of the regression model of forecasting the fire probability, built in general form, formulas of determination and correlation coefficients are presented.

The given paper is devoted to a problem of longitudinal stability of WIG craft movement close to  the ground. A number of aerodynamic configurations which have already been produced earlier, or are used now to create new techniques are considered. A great numbers of numerical experiments have been executed. On a foundation of the results we drew a conclusion on the influence of different elements and their geometry on WIG craft stability and developed recommendations on how to change the geometry of configuration in order to increase longitudinal stability of the movement.

In recent years an issue of computer based design in shipbuilding is becoming more and more important, particularly in regard with the ship’s piping systems. There are many existing computer programs able to handle such problems. However, while modeling hydro mechanical processes of internal flow the designer often faces with specific tasks which are not within the scope of those programs. Therefore, the designer is required to possess computer skills to model all sort of unconventional processes. The results of the numerical experiments of parametrical synthesis of pipeline system by a method of a «root» site are given as an example.
Key words: mathematical simulation, programming, numerical methods, design of pipelines, optimal decisions.
